Case Study Jam #5

Case Study Jam #5

After speaking at Case Study Jam (Ottawa) #5 about lessons learned from establishing and growing foodiePrints’ social network, Jenn and I found ourselves answering questions somewhat knowledgeably about how follower numbers do not necessarily translate into following. Depth of a social network is more important than breadth. This is when two event attendees told us how much they enjoyed the posts we write and their finding great places to eat because of them.

Having discovered we have readership and I can speak coherently after an impressive talk by artist and entrepreneur Emily Chen (@mchenwears), I decided to contact Lynn of the Turtlehead blog to sign on to Blog Out Loud 2010 (BOLO 2010). Both Jenn and I will be participating.

BOLO 2010

BOLO 2010

BOLO is a get-together to hear from Ottawa bloggers. It will be held next week, July 7, 2010 from 7:00 pm (19:00) to 10:00 pm (22:00), at Irene’s Pub (885 Bank Street). It is free. Photos from several photo bloggers will be displayed. Almost 2 dozen local bloggers will be reading posts from their blogs. There will be prominent mommy bloggers (including Dani (@danigirl) of Postcards from the Mother Ship and Rebecca (@bitofmomsense) of A Little Bit of Momsense), tech bloggers (Tanya (@spydergrrl) of Spydergrrl On the Web), culture bloggers, style and beauty bloggers, art and theater bloggers, city bloggers, and another food blogger (Jennifer (@itaintmeatbabe) of It Ain’t Meat Babe).

I have had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer before at MediaStyle’s Premiere Party of Caroline and Dave: Realities of the Journey to Zen Kitchen. An accomplished writer, it will be a treat to hear her read one of her blog posts.

Come out this Wednesday evening to Irene’s pub. Pull up a chair, order a drink, and put faces to some of Ottawa’s blogs. The worst that can come out of it is your discovering a new blog to read.

See you soon!

Mild-mannered IT professional by day and food blogger by night, I founded foodiePrints with a single intention, to share my love of all things food. My first post shared a recipe. Many followed. Eventually, I learned Ottawa prepares and serves great food. Thereafter, I started meeting restaurateurs, chefs, cooks, farmers, and other local producers, all good people. Ideas for food-related content swirled in my head. foodiePrints grew into a place to put them. From exploring foreign and domestic cuisines to shopping for exotic ingredients and cobbling together my takes on dishes in my meager kitchen, there are stories to tell. Welcome to foodiePrints. Here, you will find stories about food and drink, cooking, and eating in Canada’s capital. Be it food-related or just food-for-thought, I hope you find something tasty here.
