Media Style Holiday Party 2010

Print Friendly

As last year, Ian Capstick’s (@iancapstick) and Shawn Dearn’s (@shawndearn) MediaStyle Holiday Party opened Christmas party season for me and Jenn at foodiePrints. It is an annual event we are grateful to have been invited to again.

MediaStyle, a media (both traditional and new media), event planning, and content production (television, film, video, and web) company, has enjoyed some growth this past year. We are glad to see its success.

MediaStyle’s co-founder and friend, Ian, is very active in the community, organizing and participating in fundraising events for various causes and supporting networking and showcase events for communications around Ottawa. Food event-wise, Ian lead the organizing committee for 2010’s Capital CupcakeCamp, which raised over $6000 for the Woman Alive/Femme Active Program and the Youth Services Bureau.

For the MediaStyle Holiday Party, attendees were encouraged to bring non-perishables, baby formula, diapers, and/or donations for the Ottawa Food Bank. In total, the party raised 187 lbs of food. Moreover, it supported local producers and suppliers and served Beau’s beer on-tap.

With Travis Boiveneau (@travisboisvenue) preparing and serving hors d’œuvres and Jaime Woo (@jaimewoo) at the bar, attendees were very well taken care of. Notably, Jaime mixes a good cosmo.

There was an abundance of food, drink, and great conversation.

Ian, being a rather accomplished amateur cupcake baker, of course baked cupcakes.

The ham came from the Piggy Market (400 Winston Avenue). It was brined with maple syrup and mustard, and smoked with apple wood.

Thank-you to our hosts Ian and Shawn for a great party.

Congratulations for beating last year’s donations to the Ottawa Food Bank as well!

Mild-mannered IT professional by day and food blogger by night, I founded foodiePrints with a single intention, to share my love of all things food. My first post shared a recipe. Many followed. Eventually, I learned Ottawa prepares and serves great food. Thereafter, I started meeting restaurateurs, chefs, cooks, farmers, and other local producers, all good people. Ideas for food-related content swirled in my head. foodiePrints grew into a place to put them. From exploring foreign and domestic cuisines to shopping for exotic ingredients and cobbling together my takes on dishes in my meager kitchen, there are stories to tell. Welcome to foodiePrints. Here, you will find stories about food and drink, cooking, and eating in Canada’s capital. Be it food-related or just food-for-thought, I hope you find something tasty here.
