The Red & White – A Taste of Prince Edward County in Support of Harmony House
Harmony House Women’s Shelter is hosting it’s annual Red & White Event. Dubbed an “after work” event, it is an unique opportunity to sample the wines and beer of Prince Edward County in the historic stone cellar of St. Brigid’s (310 St. Patrick Street).

Last year, 6 wineries participated: Rosehall Run, Black Prince, Huff Estates, Sugarbush, Sandbanks and the Grange as well as Waupoos Cider and Barley Days Brewery. With 150 people attending, the event provided vintners a great opportunity to talk about their products.

Appetizers were served. Entertainment was provided by a trio from the Ottawa Symphony.

Tickets are $40/pp with proceeds going to Harmony House.

Rouge

Rouge

Amy Karlin of Splendid Events, one of Rouge’s organizers, describes the event as an opportunity for brides-to-be to “get dolled up”, “have a great night out”, and meet wedding professionals outside of the “typical trade show environment”: no booths, no business cards, just “top notch wedding talent.

Rouge

Rouge offers brides-to-be and their entourages of BFF’s a dance floor, a selection of delectables, mini-makeovers, papparazzi photos, limo rides, and a bridal fashion show. Brides-to-be will mingle with local vendors, trying samples and sipping martinis.

On the food front, Mandi and Kate from Auntie Loo’s Treats will be on hand, showcasing their wedding cakes and offering mini-cupcakes to sample. Erin from Icicle Treats will be signing people up for an upcoming popsicle tasting in May. Chef Laurin of Essence Catering will be serving “bites” [Click here to see what Essence Catering recently served at a CycleLogic event]. While Jen of Koko Chocolates will not be available, there will be a chocolate tasting table.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle for prize packs that include a certificate for dinner for two at Mamma Teresa’s, “Rouge” lip-shaded cookies from the talented Geek Sweets, truffle samplers from Koko Chocolates, samples from Roaste’d Nuts, and vouchers for popsicles from Icicle Treats.

Mild-mannered IT professional by day and food blogger by night, I founded foodiePrints with a single intention, to share my love of all things food. My first post shared a recipe. Many followed. Eventually, I learned Ottawa prepares and serves great food. Thereafter, I started meeting restaurateurs, chefs, cooks, farmers, and other local producers, all good people. Ideas for food-related content swirled in my head. foodiePrints grew into a place to put them. From exploring foreign and domestic cuisines to shopping for exotic ingredients and cobbling together my takes on dishes in my meager kitchen, there are stories to tell. Welcome to foodiePrints. Here, you will find stories about food and drink, cooking, and eating in Canada’s capital. Be it food-related or just food-for-thought, I hope you find something tasty here.
