It’s always been my dream to visit every part of Canada. The physical landscape is so diverse and stunning that it would take some time before I could see it all. And, of course, to sample all the cuisines each region has to offer.

Having spent much of my childhood exploring the mountains, seeing the Pacific Ocean, and eating the best Vancouver has to offer, I hope to someday visit the Atlantic provinces and sample some great food. But, until then, Don and I will just have to be satisfied with some tasty offerings from the Nova Scotia Eatery truck.

Presented by the Taste of Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia tourism, the purpose of this food truck is to bring a taste of this maritime province to Ontarians and inspire them visit the region.

The “eatery” was actually in our fair city last month during the Ottawa Jazz Festival. Parked right in front of City Hall at the Marion Dewar Plaza, the Nova Scotia Eatery served some local favourites such as lobster rolls and haddock burgers along with some blueberry lemonade and apple treats.

Let’s go take a look, shall we?

Let’s order some food!

As Canada’s second smallest province, Nova Scotia has much to offer: lobster, blueberries, honey, fish like haddock, even apples. Everything was simply delicious.

If you missed your chance to visit the eatery last month, you’ll get another opportunity this week!

The Nova Scotia Eatery truck will be stopping by three Sobeys locations. Check the schedule below to see which location it’ll be parked at. As the food above was specifically for customers to purchase at the Jazz Festival, the truck will instead be providing small samples made with ingredients that are available for purchase at the grocery store.

And, don’t forget to share a photo of your visit via Twitter and Instagram for your chance to win a trip for four via their Gourmet Getaway Contest.

Needless to say, Don and I have already entered!

Teacher by day and blogger by night, I have always been passionate about food. I grew up watching my mother cook and bake as I sat at the kitchen table doing my homework. In the summers, I happily played in the backyard garden, picking strawberries as my parents tended their crops. A city girl with a love for the outdoors, my goal is to capture the ever-changing Ottawa food scene. When I’m not running, you can find me shopping for ingredients or in the kitchen cooking for my family and friends. Whether you’ve been cooking for a long time or are learning to cook for the first time, I hope you will find something delicious here to inspire you.
