This week, CBC Ottawa Morning‘s host Robyn Bresnahan (@RobynBresnahan) initiated a recurring photo contest that may earn participants branded t-shirts. It goes like this: 1) Tweet a themed photo to the @OttawaMorning account by Friday of the given week; 2) One “winning” submission will be chosen.

This week’s prize is rumoured to be a Dave Brown t-shirt. This week’s them is “remains of summer.”

While I’m not entirely sure who Dave Brown is, I love Twitter photo contests, so asked for a hashtag, which no one seems to be using: #ottmornpic (#fail).

That said, this past summer, we met Nick Bachusky and just discovered we can embed our interview with him on Lunch Out Loud Ottawa into a post.

Bachusky is a citizen reporter who works with co-host Andrew Miller to expose Ottawa’s somewhat hidden but vibrant cultural scene, be it food, entrepreneurs, or performance art, especially indie music. Their podcast is steadily growing in popularity.

A super cool guy, Bachusky is a sportsman, adventurer, passionate music fan, and closet food enthusiast. It was his birthday yesterday, so here’s hoping he had a great one!

Now, foodiePrints being a food blog, Bachusky wanted to do a “live” on-air review of a food truck. We don’t do live reviews. We do love Ottawa’s food trucks and the fearless entrepreneurs that own and operate them.

So, we kinda stacked the deck, re-visiting an established truck we know serves very good food, Relish [the Flavour] Food Truck. In fact, Paul Bergeron’s blue truck just became an official part of the University of Ottawa food program. As of 18 hours ago, Relish has been equipped to accept meal plan and “flex” dollars from its location on campus (corner of Copernicus Street and University Boulevard).

Here’s why I think students are lucky:

Dishes made from whole foods and with skilled hands, I didn’t eat nearly as well when I schooled at the university.

If you haven’t tweeted your “remains of summer” pics to @OttawaMorning, today is the last day!

Mild-mannered IT professional by day and food blogger by night, I founded foodiePrints with a single intention, to share my love of all things food. My first post shared a recipe. Many followed. Eventually, I learned Ottawa prepares and serves great food. Thereafter, I started meeting restaurateurs, chefs, cooks, farmers, and other local producers, all good people. Ideas for food-related content swirled in my head. foodiePrints grew into a place to put them. From exploring foreign and domestic cuisines to shopping for exotic ingredients and cobbling together my takes on dishes in my meager kitchen, there are stories to tell. Welcome to foodiePrints. Here, you will find stories about food and drink, cooking, and eating in Canada’s capital. Be it food-related or just food-for-thought, I hope you find something tasty here.
